The Picture Of Dorian Gray

One of my all time favorite books is Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" ever since I first read and studied about it on College - I actually graduated in a English Language teaching degree, by the way. This novel not only stuck to me because Oscar Wilde is one of the few LGBTQIA+ representation in classic literature and everything about his life was indeed queer.

Dorian Gray is a young fellow whose beauty is one of a kind. He doesn't know at, whatsover. He becomes the model for an artist called Basil. Basil secretly has strong feelings for Dorian, which stays platonic for the moment. Anyways, this portrait ends up very beautiful at a point Basil himself considers it his masterpiece.

Influenced by a friend of Basil, Harry, Dorian starts realizing beauty and how it sort of separates the ordinary from special. Looking at his own fresh-painted picture, Dorian Gray wishes the painting could get old and lost youth and beauty meanwhile he stays forever young and beautiful. His wish was somehow granted.

To make a long story short, the picture started deteorating as Dorian became a bad person.

It's amazing to me how this story only gets more and more relevant as time goes by. How many Dorian Gray are there today all over social media? Hiding behind filters a filthy person?

This was not the first time I've done art inspired by the novel. But I guess I got better ever since the first time and wanted to redo it. Here's the fisrt art:

And now, the new one:
